Happy Easter!

Happy Easter, everyone! We had a great Easter. Strange thing, though... it turns out that the Easter bunny was REALLY busy this year, so although he left Kailin's basket for her in the morning, he also left an IOU for an egg hunt later in the day. We went to 8am church and then headed down to Steve's Grandma's house to celebrate Easter on his side of the family. We got a lovely surprise when we got to see our new niece, Evalyn, for the first time. She's just a tiny little thing and cute as a button! We were able to snap some shots of Steve's parents with all of the grandkids (minus Colby for now), so that was a nice little surprise as well. We stayed til about Kailin's nap time and thankfully she zonked on the way home.

She really got into the egg hunt when we got home and was equally ecstatic each time she opened an egg with "BEANS!!!" in it! Then we moved on to dyeing eggs. Yes, I know - a bit late on that one! We were out of eggs last week and I figured it would be no problem to dye them on Saturday, but we headed to Harrington park for a long hike with our friend Rachel (dog sitter extraordinaire) and Kailin CRASHED after that (read - egg dyeing would have been a complete and utter disaster and possibly dangerous as well!). So we dyed them yesterday and she was quite intrigued by the process and mesmerized by the "magic crayon"!
Then it was time to abandon fun for the day and move on to packing wildly. So far, we've been able to get everything into our two main suitcases except one of the gifts for our interpreter on the day we get Colby (a bit bulky) and Steve's boots. Why the man can't ever save an extra pair of tennis shoes to use as a spare is beyond me. So instead of packing a nice, somewhat compact pair of tennis shoes into our already stuffed suitcase, I get to try to find space for enormously unwieldy hiking boots "just in case" his tennis shoes get wet. Anyway, those two items will be spilling over into one of our donation suitcases. All in all, though - we did fine, and we are taking a lot more gifts this time than we did to China. They'll all be gone coming home, so there should be plenty of room even for the clodhoppers! I think we're all packed now except for some last minute toiletries. One more thing checked off the list!
