No, not so much. It sure didn't start out on a stellar note with Kailin having one tantrum after another in the grocery store. It perked up, though, when my mom showed up for the day and the kids are always overjoyed when Nai Nai shows up.

The "big" activity for the day was playing in the water table - but oh did they have a good time! Toward the end we discovered that Colby loves to be sprayed by the hose. It was cold, of course, and he'd suck in his gut and a whoosh of air and then blow it all out and giggle like no tomorrow! Kailin, on the other hand, preferred to be much less wet and played a rousing game of fill the bucket and "feed the goats". (It involves setting the bucket on another bucket and commanding the imaginary goats to "STAY AWAY!!!" Then at the time deemed appropriate by her, flinging handsful of the water out into the lawn screaming, "Come and eat, goats!!!!" Both performances were good for a hearty laugh and it was exactly the type of thing I'd been hoping for this week.

As is prone to happening lately when I try to get together with my mom, severe weather rolled in in the afternoon. No more water table and certainly no trips to the park! Steve finally made it home (he had to drive right through the mess) and we snarfed some dinner and Kailin, Nai Nai, and I trooped off for Kailin's last swim lesson. Although she didn't really care to listen in the pool and I did have to threaten that we'd leave if she didn't shape up, she also put her face completely in the water by herself (once) and let me dunk her (once) without tears. I'm still on the fence about signing her up for the next level starting a week from Monday, but we'll see. We stopped for ice cream to celebrate on the way home and told her to keep it a secret (we didn't get any for Steve because it never would've made it home) and then asked her if she was going to tell Daddy about her ice cream and she said, "YES!!!!" We started over again with the explanation of a secret. ha ha ha. She did keep the secret in the end, but I guess now the cat's out of the bag so to speak.
